There are many different money and banking museums around the world. In 2008, ICOMON undertook a survey of its members, to get a snapshot of those museums, and a short report on the results of that survey was compiled by Elizabeth R Galvin and Catherine Eagleton.
ICOMON is also working on a directory of money and banking museums worldwide. It is a work in progress at the moment, but will be on this site in 2012.
We are also preparing a set of guidelines for non-specialist curators, which will be on this site in 2012.
Exchanges and disposals
Sometimes, money museums and coin collections will have material that they no longer need, would like to exchange, or objects that they are looking for. Wherever possible, ICOMON encourages members to transfer objects between museums rather than disposing of them on the open market. To help with this, ICOMON maintains a list of requests and offers of objects on the exchanges and disposals page.
