To save the science of numismatics
I- definition of knowledge management
With the phenomenon of development of information technologies, namely internet, we find ourselves submerged with a huge flow of information and knowledge which needs to be well managed.
The ultimate objective being to realise the main stages through which information must go, that is identification, preservation or capitalisation, valuation, sharing and actualisation.
II- The difference between monetary museums and national museums in the management of information
Because of their specialty, monetary museums have to deal with one type of information that is related to the domain of numismatics (history of money, types and tools of coinage), contrarily to national museums, which do not have only one specialty but cover a lot of domains like archaeology, history, numismatics, art etc…Thus the need for national museums to use efficient ways of management of this flow of information.
III- Interaction between museums and other institutions
As far as the Currency Museum of Bank Al-Maghrib is concerned, the exchanges with other institutions are done through various forms:
- Trainings carried out by colleagues from African countries in our Institute;
- Trainings and seminars carried by our staff abroad;
As for the faculties, the interaction is realised through:
- The organisation of seminars and conferences for researchers in the domain of Numismatics;
- Publication of Ph.D thesis;
- Put at the disposal of researchers and students our collections and library.
IV- Ways to save the sciences of Numismatics
Due to the lack of interest in the sciences of numismatics, it seems urgent to find ways to bring back to this discipline the importance it deserves, and the best way according to us is to initiate young people by communicating to them this passion for money which is part of their daily life. By initiating the future generations we could assure the survival of this discipline.
